Our Public Finance Group has extensive experience representing underwriters, issuers, borrowers, bond funds, and corporate trustees in tax-exempt financings throughout the United States as well as serving as counsel to commercial banks issuing letters of credit, interest rate swaps and other credit enhancements in a broad range of public finance transactions. The Public Finance Group regularly advises clients in all aspects of tax-exempt (and related taxable) debt issuance, including securities and tax matters and works closely with lawyers in other practice areas of the firm to advise clients on complex issues relating to health care, education, real estate, energy, technology and intellectual property, construction and environmental matters.
Our clients in the public finance area include municipalities, state agencies and other governmental units, state universities, and other public authorities. In addition, our attorneys represent parties in financings for hospitals, continuing care retirement communities, integrated health systems, nursing care providers, senior living facilities, colleges, universities, private elementary and secondary schools and student loan programs.
Our public finance attorneys have crafted innovative tax-exempt financing solutions in such areas as grant anticipation revenue (GARVEE) bonds and student loan financings and have substantial experience and expertise in advising clients in specific public finance matters such as the relationship between fundraising and the issuance of tax-exempt debt, the use of derivative products, and federal tax standards applicable to agreements with for-profit providers.
We recognize that entities involved in public financing vary not only in type and purpose, but also in experience. Regardless of whether you are a first-time participant or have an established presence in the marketplace, we welcome the opportunity to meet with you to discuss how we may assist you in the public finance arena.
